Nov. 1 – A double date for Piedmont touristic activities in Europe and South America. Between November 5-8, the Piedmont region will head to the World Travel Market in London, the main touristic fair in the European market dedicated exclusively to trade. Simultaneously, on November 7-9, the Semana Mesa of Sao Paolo will take place. This is the main food and wine festival in Brazil and the Latin American continent, and it unites thousands of professionals, specialists, experts, and food lovers. Piedmont’s presence is guaranteed by the Foreign Center for Internationalization (Ceipiemonte), sponsored by the Tourism Agency of the Region. “These two events are important follow-ups for already established activities. In Brazil, we chose to use Semana Mesa as our entrance window to promote tourism through our food and wine branding. This is also thanks to the fact that a new airway opened between Lisbon and Turin, operated by TAP, which also has flights from Lisbon to Brazil,” says Alberto Cirio, Regional Tourism and Sport delegate, “In London, we have already participated in the Olympics with Nike,” he continues. “There are numerous factors that push us to participate in the Brazilian event, in particular: the increased tourism flux from Brazil towards Europe, the impressive economic growth and increasing purchasing power, the growing interest in food and wine, and the historical ties between our countries, based on the Italian communities in the region. By participating in the Semana Mesa, we hope to strengthen and consolidate our relations with this country and further increase the tourism flows,” says Giuseppe Donato, Ceipiemonte’s president. “The UK is the 5th largest tourism market in Piedmont, and the London event is an incredible opportunity to continue this trend.”
