Dec. 20 – A film crew from France 2, directed by the Italian correspondent Cristina Billi, visited Lecce today to discover the crafts of the city, starting with its paper mache. During the tour, the broadcaster will visit other paper pulp workshops but also some churches in the city, such as the Cathedral and St. Matthew. Lecce is the capital of the eastern province of Italy Puglia, located in the north-central part of the Salento peninsula, 11 km from the Adriatic coast and 23 km from the Ionian Sea. Its Baroque style unmistakably characterizes the city, which over time has become a real laboratory for processing local stone, malleable limestone perfectly suitable for scalpel working. The Baroque architecture also dominates the urban fabric enriched by austere lines, while the beautiful palaces reflect the liberty style, and the pre-Christian and Roman ruins bear witness to the imperial era. These beauties will be captured by the cameras of France 2 and aired on national television in the coming special dedicated to Puglia.
