Jan. 18 – From the United States to Canada, Russia, Brazil and China, as well as in other major nations of the European Union, operators from these countries, including buyers and journalists, will participate in a two-day event on Jan. 25/26 that will present the best Tuscan wine. The event will take place in the special vault of the Italian National Wine Association, based in Siena, and will be hosted by the same association. The wines that will be presented to the international public are 530 wines from 322 different companies selected in the X Selection of Tuscan Wines – a biennial event held in October in Siena, sponsored by Tuscany Promotion and organized by the Italian Wine and Winemakers Association. The wine competition was created to select and reward the best Tuscan wines, while providing a real service for wine excellence to be used in promotional activities in Italy and abroad. At the event, participants will also attend the exhibit “Wine between Myth and History,” presenting exclusive Etruscan wine glasses and amphorae. The exhibit opened in November and will be open to the public until May 2013. It is a true homage to Siena’s rich historical heritage, presenting 1600 Italian labels and about a hundred works dating from 1300 BCE until the Roman Empire.
