Feb. 12 – Introducing the Friuli Venezia Giulia region through its cuisine and exclusive ingredients. This is the objective put forth by the Chamber of Commerce of Udine in its production summary for the agri-food program of Fruit Logistica, the leading international event for fruit and vegetables, held in Berlin until Friday. Friuli Venezia Giulia has more than 800 companies engaged in the production or marketing of vegetables and fruit: the regional agri-food industry in 2011 exported €534 million, an increase of 13% compared to 2010, of which 81% of food products and 19% of beverages, for a 4 % of the total regional exports. As confirmed by the Berlin component of the chamber committee Giuseppe Pavan, “in times of crisis it was really good to see so much participation and curiosity in the event, which confirms itself as an important showcase event for our products and also the whole economy of Friuli Venezia Giulia. Food becomes a symbol of quality and acts as ‘spokesman’ for the entire regional economy and its strategic role to and from Europe and the Mediterranean.”
