Mar. 22 – “We have taken an important step in the establishment of a common platform to address issues of common management for coastal and maritime planning, adaptation to climate change, sustainable development and security of the coastal areas of the Mediterranean”, says the commissioner for Soil Protection of the Emilia-Romagna Region during an intervention in Brussels at the signing ceremony of the “Bologna Charter 2012.” The latter was signed today by14 regions from different European countries. The document, signed at the conference for the project “MAREMED”, aims to revive the European policy for sustainable development and the protection of the Mediterranean coasts, defining a common strategy between the European regions, including the management and defense of coastal areas and adaptation to climate change. “The paper proposes a macro-project for the ‘Blue Growth’, that is: sustainable development of the coast in all its aspects, consistent with the policies of the Emilia-Romagna Region – said the commissioner – It is a strategic framework for the funding of concrete actions during the next seven years of the Structural Funds program.”
