Apr. 8 – With a population of over 10 million, Chengdu is the fourth largest city in China. Located in the middle of the country-continent, hours flight away from the major towns along the coast, Chengdu is not very known outside the borders of the People’s Republic. Yet, it is the most important commercial and logistics center of western China and, for one week each year, it becomes the capital of the alcohol industry. The Italian pavilion, which presented to investors and visitors the Good Italian Wines project, was clearly one of the most popular: the direct distribution of thousands of brochures and presentation copies of the magazine in Chinese (printed for the occasion) was combined with meetings and in-depth sessions with hundreds of importers and distributors. Many of the professionals contacted already knew of Good Italian Wines thanks to the magazine they have been receiving since last autumn every month. All expressed appreciation for the physical presence of industry representatives and in general for a strong and integrated initiative that promises to finally give Italian wines a more consistent and permanent exposure to the market.
