June 6 – The innovative 0.9 TwinAir Turbo bi-fuel CNG by the Fiat Group has been awarded the title of “Best Green Engine of 2013,” one of the “International Engine of the Year Awards’” twelve categories. Now in its 15th edition, the international competition is one of the most important events for the automotive industry and is attended by all the major manufacturers in the world. The jury is composed of 76 journalists and industry experts from 36 countries. They recognized the great qualities of the new TwinAir Turbo bi-fuel CNG, an engine capable of combining cutting-edge brilliant performance with economic and environmental sustainability. The “Best Green Engine of the Year 2013” was delivered in Stuttgart during the exhibition “Engine Expo 2013.” Immediately after its debut, the TwinAir triumphed at the “International Engine of the Year Awards 2011,” winning 4 awards: the one related to its displacement category (under 1,000 cm3), “Best New Engine 2011,” “Best Green Engine 2011” and “International Engine of the Year 2011,” the highest honor within the UK-born competition. The same technology used today in the TwinAir was adopted for the 1.4 MultiAir Turbo engine, which won as “Best New Engine” in 2010, confirming – said the company – “the undisputed leadership of Fiat in the development and production of small-displacement engines with high technological content and low environmental impact.”
