Mar. 8 – Italian films from the 69th edition of Venice Film Festival are the main protagonists of the 4th edition of the ‘Festival of Italian Cinema: from Venice to Moscow’, held in the Russian capital and organized by the Venice Biennale (currently chaired by Paolo Baratta) along with the Italian Institute of Culture of Moscow and the Embassy. The festival, running until March 12, will be replicated this year in St. Petersburg on March 16 – 22. At the end of the exhibition in Moscow, Marco Bellocchio will hold a master class at VGIK, the Russian State University for cinematography. Also participating: Giselda Volodi (E’ stato il figlio), Pasquale Scimeca and Linda Di Dio (Convitto Falcone), Silvia Giralucci (Sfiorando il Muro), and Ivano De Matteo (Gli equilibristi). In St. Petersburg, they will be joined by Luigi Lo Cascio (La città ideal). Similar initiatives have been undertaken in recent years by the Venice Biennale for the promotion of Italian cinema abroad, starting in 2005 in Brazil, in 2009 in China and, more recently, in Korea with the exhibition in Seoul, which took place between December 2012 and January 2013.
