July 3 – The Consortium of Prosciutto di Parma continues in its internationalization strategy, first undertaken a number of years, and expands its presence in the most important fairs of the sector with the aim of strengthening relations with local stakeholders and promoting Prosciutto di Parma. In particular, the Consortium tries to spread the concept of DOP abroad, where there is more need to inform consumers about local products. The Sial Brazil” of São Paulo took place June 25-28, and the largest Latin American event dedicated to food and beverage sector saw for the first time Parma ham on display. The Consortium’s participation took place within an institutional area organized by the Region of Emilia-Romagna to promote meetings between companies. “The Brazilian edition of Sial has allowed us to raise awareness of our product – said Paolo Tanara, president of the Consortium – and at the same time to study a reality different from ours. We are well aware that Brazil, despite its great potential, it is for an entirely new market, but we also strive, as a Consortium, on exports and on expanding markets. For this, it is important to seize the occasions to assess closely the real prospect that a market has to offer.” “Summer Fancy Food” currently under way in New York is the second part of the Prosciutto di Parma Americas tour. The initiative is part of the “Legends from Europe” project promoted by the European Union and the Italian Government in conjunction with other important DOP products, such as Parmigiano-Reggiano, Grana Padano, Montasio and San Daniele. “This event has become an institution for us. We could not refuse to come in the United States, especially this year that it has become our largest market for exports – commented Tanara. It is also a way to celebrate the outstanding achievements of the past year thanks to our producers who worked hard to overcome the difficulties in adjusting to the rigid procedures and health demands.”
