Sept. 25 – “It gives me great satisfaction to be part of this important institution. I cannot but feel honored by the trust placed in me by President Kempe and the Board. I will dedicate all my efforts and passion to the duties bestowed upon me,” says an enthusiastic Franco Nuschese, who reached an important milestone in his career. The ambitious entrepreneur from Salerno was recently appointed member of the Board of Directors to the Atlantic Council in Washington DC. This was announced by the group’s president, Frederick Kempe. “We are delighted to appoint Nuschese – he said – as we are certain he will bring a fundamental contribution to the great challenges that await us in the coming years.” The appointment was made official in a ceremony attended by Michael Froman, Minister for Foreign Trade in the Obama administration. Founded in 1961, the Atlantic Council is one of the most influential and prestigious U.S. think tanks: its mission is to promote transatlantic cooperation and international security. The Council has as its fundamental purpose the development and pursuit of programs that engage U.S. and European institutions on issues of global concern. The institute aims to promote American leadership within international agreements, based on the central role of the Atlantic community. Throughout its history, the Atlantic Council has awarded major awards to prominent figures, such as former Secretaries of State Colin Powell and Hillary Clinton, NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen, Presidents George Bush and Bill Clinton, Vice President Joe Biden, businessmen like Muhtar Kent – President of Coca -Cola – and the communications magnate Rupert Murdoch, as well as artists such as Bono of U2, Placido Domingo and Tony Bennet.
