Sept. 25 – “Let us stop and listen” is the motto of LifeGate, network advisor for sustainable development that promotes a new way of life and an economic model in which people, the planet and profit live in harmony. Founded in 2001 by Marco Roveda, LifeGate is a point of reference in Italy for sustainability issues. It also offers consulting services and sustainable development projects for companies, including Zero Impact, LifeGate Energy and LifeGate Engineering. In particular, the Zero Impact project consists bringing together individuals and businesses in a process of reducing and offsetting their carbon dioxide emissions contributing to the creation and protection of forests in Italy and in the world. To reward and tighten its relationships with companies that for years have made sustainability the key to any business, LifeGate has also given rise to a new initiative: ” Zero Impact Ambassador.” One of its “Ambassadors ” is Guna, a leading Italian company in the production and distribution of natural drugs. Guna’s sustainability program was awarded the Zero Impact Ambassador title, in recognition for its socially and environmentally sustainable activities accomplished in these years, alongside a new and greater commitment to communicate to stakeholders the opportunity to promote an environmentally friendly. Zero Impact is a project created by LifeGate that calculates and compensates for reduced CO2 emissions from activities, products, services and events, contributing to the creation and protection of forests. This year, LifeGate paid tribute to some of the companies that consistently supported the initiative, helping to achieve important results, such as the creation of 400 million zero impact products, the compensation of 160 million kg of CO2, the protection of 70 million square meters of forests and promoting sustainable lifestyles. Among the Zero Impact Ambassadors there will be also the Milan-based company that contributed to the work of reforestation and protection of a wooded area in Costa Rica, gradually offsetting emissions from business activities with this action to protect the environment. The choice of Zero Impact fell on Costa Rica because it is the state with the highest density of biodiversity in the world: it contains 4% of all living species on the planet, even if its surface is equal only to 0.01% of total drylands. The recent conservation policies have been brave and minimized the human impact on the environment, and the deforestation activities that devastated the area in the past 60 years have been contained and turned around: 27% of the territory of Costa Rica is currently made up of protected areas. “In addition to the important practical opportunity to participate in the reforestation of an area of Costa Rica, the Zero Impact project gave us the opportunity to gain awareness about the environmental impact of our industrial activities – said Alessandro Pizzoccaro, Chairman of the Board at Guna Spa – Our impact is too often underestimated or taken for granted: the true price of a product is not only paid by the citizen on the receipt, but it also includes an ‘environmental cost’ that we all pay in different ways. Becoming Ambassadors to this project makes us particularly proud because it shows that even a small contribution is still significant and can perhaps be an example for other businesses.”
