Sept. 30 – Maria Elisabetta Novello’s piece is “Vasi Comunicanti” and with it she won the Brussels Blumm Prize, the Prize of Contemporary Art organized by the Pomilio Blumm agency. With her creativity, the Venetian artist skillfully represented decay and regeneration with ashes, already a trademark of hers. “Novello’s artistic work – explains the jury – reminds us of the incessant cycle of decay and regeneration that pervades human action and gives a new sense of ethics to life.” Novello was awarded a €9000 prize, while the Gorizia-native Michele Spanghero, who won the people’s choice, received a €1000 prize. The event, hosted by the Italian Embassy in Brussels, was attended by 20 artists under 40 from all over the world.
