Oct. 9 – “Each collection is the beginning of a new journey,” says Giorgio Kiaris to describe the act of creation as his works fly to New York to the Artspace S gallery in the Lower East Side. Kiaris entitled his first exhibition in the United States “Cromografie”: the solo exhibition was curated by Vera Agosti and it will showcase the most recent works by the artist. Inspired by the artists of the twentieth century, Kiaris has nothing in common with web or mixed- media artist who break all ties with the codes and rules of classical painting. In truth, the works of Kiaris are closely linked to natural events and, consequently, his painting portray ecological issues, the earth, the sea and the seasons. “Now more than ever – says the artist – we should look to nature as if we looked inside ourselves; without nature, we would not be who we are.”
