Oct. 11 – Who said that economics is just a cold matter of numbers? To refute this stereotype, the Italy’s S/A Festival of Creative Economy will be held in Sao Paulo November 5-7, with the aim of telling ” the experiences of creative Italian and international companies that have transformed their culture in innovation. The festival – say the organizers – is a convention, not a show, not a fair, but a way of telling creativity in creative form.” The project is curated by Diomedea, an Italian research and communication company working with European and Brazilian institutions in the world of fashion and design, and Brazil S/A, a company that for the past four years has curated, during the Milan design week, an event / exhibition on the culture and trends of Brazilian design. For three days of events, the creative economy will be the focus of the exhibitions and meetings, which will develop into a unusual structures, like a TV show, designed to create a dialogue between the key players in Italy’s creative and industrial excellence and a selected Brazilian public. Among the Italian companies, Flavio Albanese and Aldo Cibic, two of Italy’s leading architects and designers, will speak and bear testimony of Italy’s ability to create with simple aesthetics and poetics. “The decision to organize the Festival in Brazil – said the organizers in a statement – stems from the fact that this country offers opportunities not to be missed, although there is a local fierce competition in many of the industries in which Italy excels ( fashion, furniture, food ) and a very high level of protection. Brazil, the economic heart of South America, with a GDP that ranks eighth among the world’s economic powers, and with a growth rate that will place the country in the top five places within 10 years, has one of the richest territories in raw materials with a constantly increasing potential for tourism and business, driven by the prospect of the World Cup 2014 and the Olympics in 2016.”
