(Oct. 15) – “China is the market we decided to aim to for a growth: a challenge that requires great patience and entrepreneurial dynamism. This edition confirms that the event is emerging as the B2B event of reference for the international footwear in this country”. This is how Cleto Sagripanti, President of Assocalzaturifici speaks about the second edition of TheMicamShanghai, which was held from October 11th to 13th in the Chinese city. The event, which is the Chinese edition of TheMicam, the international exhibition for medium-high and high-end footwear, saw the presence of the major retailers, distributors and shopping centers from all over China, Hong Kong and South Korea. During the summer, an extensive media campaign and a roadshow have been organized – thanks to Italy’s ICE – in the major Chinese cities, such as Beijing, Shanghai, Chengdu and also in Hong Kong. In addition, TheMicamShanghai had a special visibility thanks to an agreement signed by Assocalzaturifici and Fiera Milano with the Shanghai Fashion Week, one of the most important events in China dedicated to the fashion industry. Claudio Pasqualucci, Director of ICE Shanghai, said that “the data confirm the interest for Italian footwear: in the first six months of 2013, exports of Italian shoes in China has reached the 817,000 pairs, an increase of 15.1% compared to the same period of 2012, for a total turnover of 84.4 million euros (+22.8% compared to the first six months of 2012)”.
