Oct. 22 – Parmigiano Reggiano, Prosciutto di Parma and Balsamic Vinegar of Modena and of Reggio Emilia all come from Emilia Romagna, the region with 33 certified DOP (Protected Designation of Origin) and PGI (Protected Geographical Indication) products. And today the Emilia agribusiness riches are ready to conquer Canada: eight regional agri-food companies will participate in Deliziando, the project promoted by the Emilia- Romagna Region and Unioncamere to support local wines and certified quality products in foreign markets. The companies are small and medium-sized businesses to which “Deliziando” provides the logistical and organizational support necessary to carry out specific business initiatives in international markets. The initiative, partners of the Italian Chambers of Commerce of Montreal for Quebec and Toronto for Ontario, provides for an “Emilia-Romagna Day” and meetings with local buyers and catering and the great Canadian distribution representatives. Canada is one of the main markets for Italian food products: in 2011, the value of exports amounted to €383 million, with Ontario and Quebec as main destinations, accounting for about 80% of the national total. The Emilia Romagna mission started yesterday and will end on October 25.
