Nov. 4 – “We aim to strengthen our trade relations with Hong Kong by betting on the nutritional and health aspects of our extra virgin olive oils, highlighting their strengths and diversity produced by local companies,” says Massimo Gargano, chairman of Unaprol – the National Union of Olive Oil Associations – while commenting Unaprol’s exploratory mission in China. The best of Italy’s extra virgin olive oil is, this week, in Hong Kong, for a sales promotion linked to consumer awareness programs. The event takes place with the support of the Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Forestry within the first olive oil supply chain contract. It relies on the collaboration of VeronaFiere, which organizes the Italian participation at the International Wine & Spirit Fair in Hong Kong, scheduled for November 7-9. The goal is to raise awareness for different and high quality products among buyers and the press via assisted tastings. During the fair there will also be a seminar on olive oil dedicated to Italian restaurateurs, consumer associations and local buyers, as well as a private meeting with the Hong Kong press. “Hong Kong is the natural gateway to Asia, a continent that offers the greatest potential for Italian agribusiness market growth – concludes Gargano – In this context, we could not risk olive oil being underrepresented, and we made it our Italian ambassador made in Italy in the region.” The participating companies are: Fai, Redoro Frantoi Veneti di Grezzana (VR), Società Agricola Trevi il Frantoio in Trevi (PG), Oleificio Guglielmi in Andria (BAT), Oleificio Cooperativo Paladino in Palo del Colle (BA); Lucchi and Guastalla (La Spezia) and Accademia Olearia (Alghero).
