Oct. 31 – Although many countries and regions on the Mediterranean produce excellent olive oil, including Spain, Tuscany, Umbria and Liguria, the flavor that conquered the Obamas is that of Salento olive oil, from Puglia. Indeed, Unaprol, certified “the Queen’s Nectar” as 100% Italian quality, and thus adequate for the POTUS’ dinner table.
The oil, derived from over 320 kg of olives collected especially for this initiative, now awaits to be delivered on the President’s table.
In fact, the “Michelle Obama Med-Italian Diet Day” promoters still need to decide, in accordance with the US Embassy in Rome, whether this oil will be delivered to the President or the American diplomatic organs in Italy. The package to be delivered to Michelle Obama will also include a DVD with a 3D documentary explaining the extraction process for “the Queen’s Nectar” as well as similar types of oil produced in the region. The DVD is unique in its kind and it was produced by the Consortile di Ricerca Digamma company, in cooperation with the Bari Dedalo Publishing House and the Sant’Anna Cooperative.
