Nov. 13 – Lombardy wines have gained popularity worldwide in the past couple of years, but nowhere like in Asia. A few nights ago in Hong Kong, a mission organized to promote food products Lombard saw the Regional Councilor for Agriculture, Gianni Fava, and the Consul General of Italy in Hong Kong, Alessandra Schiavo, eat a gourmet meal at the “Domani” restaurant, in the city center, to promote typical Lombard products and wine. “Lombardy – says the Councilor – has wines of the highest quality, wines that Asian consumers are loving. This mission aims to strengthen Lombardy’s wine presence in the region, already strong at 42 original denominations, 27 PDOs and 15 PGIs.” But of course wine is best enjoyed when it comes with food, so a full menu of culinary delights from the region was made available for the promotional events. Representatives of the 9 wineries participated in the mission, alongside hundreds of operators, buyers, importers and representatives of local banking institutions. “Regione Lombardia and Promos (a company of the Chamber of Commerce of Milan for internationalization) are – continued Fava – here to support real growth opportunities, where the demand for quality wines is steadily increasing, despite the export setback recorded in recent months.”
