July 9 – Myanmar faces international markets for the first time and Italy is ready to work and invest in the Asian country. ICE Agency organized a few days ago a meeting to present to Italian entrepreneurs Burma’s development potential. “The country faces international markets for the first time, becoming in all intents and purposes a preferred destination for investors, not just Italian ones, thanks to the EU and US sanctions being withdrawn,” said the president of ICE, Riccardo Monti. The importance of the relations between Italy and Burma was made evident in the intervention of the Union of Myanmar’s Ambassador in Italy, Tint Swai, and his Italian counterpart, Paolo Andrea Bartorelli. Noting the great friendship between the two countries, Swai offered to give all the Italian companies wishing to invest in Asia the support needed to establish first contacts, while Bartorelli explained the situation: “The country wishes to re-enter the international community. Change is solid and I would like to reassure all potential investors by adding that it will be irreversible, and therefore risk-free.” Bartorelli is very well acquainted with Southeast Asia and has previously served in Indonesia: “I have personally had experience of this change. When I arrived in Jakarta, Burma was a tourist destination for lovers of danger and adventure, now it has become a destination for lovers of the beautiful places.” The ambassador insisted on the term “change” and continued his work of reassurance on the safety of the market: “The speed at which everything is evolving is amazing: in Myanmar everyone is coming, do not miss this opportunity.”
