Dec. 10 – “Move the passion,” the first wine marathon through the streets of Manhattan, was a success. It saw as absolute protagonists Veneto wines, the lure of which New Yorkers were not able to resist. “Move the passion” is an innovative format, born in New York, to present the Veneto Wine Union Consortia (Uvive). There were 7 consortia at the event: Lugana Doc, Prosecco Doc, Conegliano Valdobbiadene Prosecco Superiore Docg, Vini Doc Soave e Recioto di Soave, Valpolicella Doc, Lessini Durello, and Montello-Colli Asolani. “Uvive – says the website of the association – is the representative body of Veneto wines with a designation of origin; it coordinates the consortia for production and marketing control and surveillance for all DOC and DOCG Veneto wines. It thus helps combat abuse and fraud in the designation of origin and trademark. This form of protection is guaranteed by a warranty on wine traceability and their production according to traditional methods. Controls are ironclad and pervade the entire industry, from the vineyard to the shelf of the store.” Uvive also is the Veneto wines “ambassador” in the world, as coordinator and organizer, in Italy and abroad, of collective initiatives for the dissemination and strengthening of the Veneto DOC and DOCG brand image.
