Dec. 10 – “Where the countryside survives the litany of the evening, crickets sing the sadness of wounded nature,” is an aphorism by Gino Girolomoni, which says a lot about his world view. Born from a peasant family on the Isola del Piano (Pesaro and Urbino), Girolomoni (who died in 2012) founded the eponymous agricultural cooperative of Montebello, which is now an institutional bio-reality in Italy. At the end of 2013, it recorded an increase in turnover of more than 10%, amounting to €8.5 million. “This growth, in relative terms – said the company in a statement – sees sales in Italy play an important part (+30 % compared to the 9% of foreign countries), but the overall figures continue to confirm the internationality of the company, which makes about 90% of its sales abroad. This has been possible thanks to the continued trust towards Made in Italy products by our historical customers and our recent entry into new markets.” The first countries in order of performance for the Agricultural Cooperative Gino Girolomoni are: Germany, France, USA and Japan. The cooperative has also played an active role, during the year, to enter into new markets and major European and non-European countries, such as the UK and Israel. The international success is a sign of quality, health and respect for the environment: “Eating – supports Girolomoni – is not just to cook; it is a gift, a spiritual act of friendship, brotherhood, beauty, warmth, color, wisdom, perfume, simplicity, and companionship.”
