Dec. 16 – “This project explores women, and their image on TV. The series looks at all female stereotypes constantly portrayed on TV and builds a new image. In response, women say the series makes them feel more appreciated and fairly judged in all their imperfections.” Eleonora Andreatta, the head of Rai Fiction, speaks with enthusiasm about the Rai-produced series “Una Mamma Imperfetta.” The series, written by Ivan Cotroneo, became a TV phenomenon in Italy in 2013. At the premier of the movie “Il Natale della mamma imperfetto,” held at the Roman Space Moderno on Saturday, the head explained: “The series took us on a great adventure, and this TV film symbolizes the completion of this multimedia project.” Andreatta spoke of “a great adventure on TV, the wevb, in DVD and cinema.” Indigo Film, in co production with Rai Fiction and OMI, brought the film in 95 cinemas across Italy for just one day: Dec. 17. The movie, directed by Ivan Cotroneo, stars Lucia Mascino, Fausto Maria Sciarappa, Alessia Barela, Anna Ferzetti and Vanessa Compagnucci. The movie will go on the air on Dec. 27 on Rai2. The special episode sees the four main characters prepare for the upcoming Christmas celebrations. The show, born as a web-series last spring, was first aired on TV last September. The series is particularly appreciated for its honesty, irony, and lightness with which is tells everyday life. And now, the show is ready to cross national borders and “reach a broader audience. The program was sold to Germany, France and Disney.” Andreatta continues: “I’ve met with various producers in the past month, who recognized the many innovative aspects of the multimedia series.” MIPCOM, the Cannes International Film Market held in October, saw Disney buy the rights to the series to develop a remake. The show revolves around Chiara, a mom who asks herself and the audience, how to be a good mother, who works but doesn’t lose herself. Chiara Guerrieri is portrayed by Lucia Mascino. Her character is surrounded by her husband Davide, her friends, Marta, Irene and Claudia, and their spouses, Giacomo, Luigi and Gustavo. In 8 minutes, Chiara summarizes her day and its daily struggles: taking the kids to school in the morning, work meetings, keeping the passion alive in her marriage… Each day seems like a race and an adventure. Her goal is to be as good as possible in her role as woman, mother and wife.
