Jan. 7 – “A time machine, the birds singing, a carpet, a reproduction of a telegram, a modernist cell, a watercolor, a factory canteen table, a car: all these things make the history of the 20th century – or rather the memory of it in an exhibition space through which the viewer moves blindly, stumbling over memories, mistakes, interpretations. In this space, the viewer interacts with the ghosts of Pasolini, Angela Davis, Mario Merz… ” The exhibition is called ‘Smog in Los Angeles’ and it organized by the Roman artist Elisabetta Benassi. Until January 26 the Crac Alsace of Altkirch, in Alsace, will host the exhibition on a century defined “the short century” by the British historian Eric Hobsbawm. Through paradigmatic events places and personalities, Benassi seeks to portray everyday life in a roundup of photos collected from major news agencies and national newspapers – taken from an archive of 70.000 images that the artist put together – along with installations, sculptures and drawings.
