Jan. 8 – Launched by Giuseppe Meazza in 1949, when the Italian champion coached for six months the Turkish Besiktas, the “fashion” of Italian coaches heading abroad has finally hit Portugal. The Portuguese SC Olhanense, the team of the small town of Olhão, has reached an agreement with Giuseppe Galderisi, who will replace Paulo Alves on the bench. The Lions are engaged in a tough fight to avoid relegation and are currently in last place at the Primeira Liga, with a meager 9 points after 14 matches: 2 wins, 3 draws and 9 defeats. The 50 year old former striker for Juventus, Verona, Milan and Lazio has already coached in Italy Avellino, Foggia , Pescara, Triestina and Salerno. A decisive factor in his decision to begin his first adventure abroad as a coach was the presence of Igor Campedelli, former Cesena president, in the senior management of the team.
