Jan. 10 – “Some series were filmed in English and were sold in over 40 countries around the world: Europe, North America, Arab Countries, Asian ones, even China…” Piero Angela talks with satisfaction of his program’s success. Superquark was first launched in September 1995 as an evolution of the already successful Rai program “Quark.” The Turin presenter was recently a guest on “Porta a Porta” to comment on past editions of his show. On the talk show hosted by Bruno Vespa, Angela spoke of his 60-year TV experience within Rai, comparing it to that of some of the personalities that made the history of Italian television: Lino Banfi, Paolo Bonolis, Antonella Clerici, Carlo Conti, Fabrizio Frizzi, Antonio Lubrano, Mario Orfeo, Bruno Pizzul and Piero Angela were all guests on the show. Angela stressed the international success of Superquark, the most popular Italian TV show about science, nature and technology. This success confirms the audience’s interest for the program’s formula: rich in services, features and interviews. In the past thirty years, Piero Angela has also worked with newspapers and magazines, writing articles and tips. He wrote 32 books, some of which have been translated into English, German, French and Spanish, with a circulation of over two and a half million copies. He received awards not only in Italy but also in the United States and Japan, and in Paris and has received the prestigious UNESCO Kalinga Prize for international scientific dissemination.
