Jan. 22 – The Trentino Film Commission returns to Rotterdam where it will be present once again at the International Film Festival. The works submitted to the festival, held from today until February 2 include the short film “Trento Symphonia,” by the collective Flatform, which will compete along with 23 other films for the award of the “Tiger Award” within the Spectrum Shorts section. The awards ceremony will be held on January 26 at LantarenVenster Rotterdam. Flatform underlines the success: “We are proud to once again participate in the Festival of Rotterdam, which is one of the major showcases for film and video at the international level. Thanks to the support of the Trentino Film Commission, we were able to realize this project; and the fact that we have been selected for the ‘Tiger Award’ is already a great satisfaction for us and a great recognition for our work.” The Trentino Film Commission is also presenting at the 43rd edition of the Festival of Rotterdam, “Piccola Patria” by Alessandro Rossetti, already in competition at the Venice Film Festival. The young Rome-native director brought together four film commissions from the Italian northeast: the Veneto Film Commission, the Business Location Südtirol South Tyrol, the Trentino Film Commission and the Friuli Venezia Giulia Film Commission. In “Trento Symphonia,” an orchestra, a choir and a large group of youngsters, who hold the arrangements for the musicians, were filmed while playing the Eighth Symphony by Gustav Mahler with a mountain as backdrop at early sunset. The short film was shot on location with the support of the APTs of Madonna di Campiglio, Pinzolo, and Val Rendena. “Piccola Patria” was produced by Arsenali Medicei and Jump Cut; and tells the story of two girls who want to leave the small community in which they were raised and both risk getting lost.
