Feb. 18 – A museum in honor of Pope John Paul II and a partnership between Madonna di Campiglio and Krakow are just two of the new initiatives developed by Trentino and Poland, who chose to focus on tourism, trade exchanges, and sports. In recent days, a delegation led by the President of the Province, Ugo Rossi, went to Krakow to consolidate the friendship and kick off new projects. For the museum dedicated to John Paul II, the delegation paid a visit to Krakow Cardinal Stanislaw Dziwisz, former private secretary to Pope John Paul II, with whom he made a visit to the museum under construction. Two rooms of the museum will be dedicated to the Pope’s stay in Trentino in Adamello, Marmolada and Stava. Moreover, in view of the Winter Olympics in 2022 – for which Krakow is a candidate – the mayor has requested the support of Trentino,’s practical knowledge in the organization of major events, refined in 2013 thanks to the Nordic World Ski Championships and the Winter Universiade. The Trentino representatives also met with Czeslaw Lang, organizer of the “Tour de Pologne,” the cycling race which sees Trentino as one of the most important partners. This year, the race will start in Gdansk, under the eyes of former President Lech Walesa, to commemorate the 25th anniversary of free elections in Poland. It is an honor for Trentino to support a sporting event that celebrates the conquest of democracy, as pointed out by Ugo Rossi.
