Feb. 27 – In three years, the foreign trade of Lombardia with Ecuador registered significant growth: +13.8% and +32.7% in the import-export businesses. And what emerges from a processing of the Chamber of Commerce of Milan on Coeweb-Istat data is that overall, Lombard exports were almost € 45 million from January to September, accounting for 32.4% of total Italian exports, while Lombard imports were €52 million (23.5 % of the total). After Milan, it is the cities of Bergamo and Varese that share the strongest link with Ecuador. And vice versa, Ecuador’s economic presence in Milan is also felt in the number of companies owned by Ecuadorians: 744 firms in Milan alone, and over a thousand in Lombardy. Ecuadorian presence in Milan increased by 700% in the past ten (+3.5% in one year). So it is not surprising to find that for every 100 Ecuadorian nationals living in Milan, 3 are entrepreneurs (with an entrepreneurship rate of 2.8%).
