Feb. 24 – “In Italy, there are medical centers of worldwide importance and this has been the key to our success. But we’re also working very well abroad, in England, Spain, Portugal, Israel and India.” The start-up led by Paul Muller, Niso Biomed, recently received the Leonardo Committee Start-up 2013 award at the Quirinale. The award, promoted by Confindustria and ICE, is given to young Italian business realities that distinguished themselves for growth, success, innovation, internationalization and social impact. Niso Biomed was founded in 2009 in Turin and now it develops and disseminates biomedical diagnostic devices in the field of gastroenterology cancer prevention, “with innovative technologies which allow for the reduction or even elimination of invasive procedures.” The first product placed on the market was a device that enhances the endoscope to perform real-time diagnoses. “As a company, we looked to the greatest endoscopy centers with gastroenterologists and pathologists – said Muller – During our fourth year of activity, we received public funding for €35.0000 on a total investment of €2 million. But the turnover is finally starting to take off this year because we recently switched commercial stage, and the cash inflow the health sector is slow.”
