May 15 – Positive results were recorded for “Trentino: A Taste of the Dolomites,” held May 6-12 in New York. Nine wineries in Trentino flew to New York to participate in a rich program of events: business to business meetings, seminars, tastings and promotional activities in some of the best Italian restaurants. Cantine Monfort, Concilio, Maso Martis, Cesconi, Gaierhof, Letrari, Endrizzi, Cantina Rotaliana di Mezzolombardo e La-Vis promoted their products for a whole week carving for themselves a slice of the recuperating food and wine sector of the American market. A selected and specialized audience – about 250 people, among distributors, buyers, restaurateurs and industry journalists – participated in the main event, held on Thursday, May 9, at the Astor Centre. Inaugurated by the Deputy Consul General of Italy in New York, Lucia Pasqualini, and the Director of the United States Network Agency for Foreign Trade, Pierpaolo Celeste, the event was the perfect opportunity for New York operators to taste Trentino products and initiate direct contacts with the present producers. Leslie Sbrocco, famous wine speaker for the American broadcaster and author of “Wine for Women”, held a seminar in which the wine producers were given time and space to talk about their production companies and the wines offered for tasting, arousing strong interest in journalists and experts present. For four consecutive days, Trentino companies also had the opportunity to present and promote their products at 12 restaurants, including Sirius, launched by Sirio Maccioni over 20 years ago, and Le Cinque.
