Feb. 26 – Piedmont is ready to put its beautiful landscapes and excellent services on display in Berlin and Moscow. The region’s tourist offer will be heading, March 5-9, to the ITB – Internationale Tourismus Börse – in Berlin, and, March 19-22, to the Mitt – Moscow International Travel & Tourism. Thanks to an initiative by the Centre for Internationalization – Ceipiemonte – the Region will present its offer in Germany, “which remains the first target market for our country, confirming a steady growth trend in recent years. Germany is the biggest market for Piedmont, with over 1.3 million incoming tourists in 2012, 10% more than the previous year – said Alberto Cirio, Regional Councilor for Sport and Tourism – Piemonte should continue strengthening its position in this market; and that is why we’re heading back to the ITB Berlin, the largest travel industry event dedicated to the trade and the general public. This will also be a great occasion to deal with tour operators from around the world, as more than 170,000 visitors and 11,000 exhibitors from 180 countries are expected to participate.” “Immediately after Berlin, we will be in Moscow. In 2012, 47 million Russians traveled outside the country, for a 9% increase compared to 2011. Piedmont was one of the chosen destinations, thanks to its snowy mountains, shopping centers and lakes. In 2012 we had a 60.19% increase in arrivals (33,725) – says Giuseppe Donato, President of Ceipiemonte – MITT is Russia’s most important event in the industry, so it is a great opportunity to strengthen our image and offer our products, especially during the year of Italy-Russia bilateral tourism.”
