Feb. 26 – The start-up Abiel was originally developed within the University of Palermo and CNR-IANMC (Marine Environment Institute) and later incubated within the Arca Consortium. Today, Abiel is in the US to take part in the first barcamp in the history of Wall Street. The event is described as a non-conference where participants make the agenda. Abiel is joined by 12 other Italian start-ups for this first stop of USACamp, a business mission organized by ItaliaCamp in New York and Washington DC. The new startups have the chance to introduce themselves to traders and investors. Abiel is specialized in the production of lythic enzymes for cellular therapy and regenerative medicine. It will thus participate in the event as a life science company. Other categories include: telco & hardware, internet software & big data, and green & cleantech. The event is just the first of the “university road show” set up by ItaliaCamp and the Italian Pavilion for Expo2015, which will head to: New York, Pisa (April), Turin (May), Trento (June), Bari (September), Catania (October) and Milan (November).
