Mar. 7 – More international and more competitive: six students of the Department of Sciences and Methods (Dismi) within the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, after five months of intense work, will received from the Geneva CERN a prestigious award. The students will be rewarded for their taking part in a research project developed within the framework of the program “CBI: Challenge-Based Innovation,” born from the collaboration between CERN, the University of Modena and Reggio Emilia, Aalto University (Finland) and the National Technical University of Athens (Greece). The project aims at developing ideas through the innovative application of advanced technologies t solve some of the major challenges of our society. The Director of Research and Information Technology of the famous research center, Sergio Bertolucci, will receive the winning students, who worked mainly on the development of technologies to support learning for autism patients and the dissemination of systems and technologies for long-distance collaborations among large groups. The students were accompanied by Professor Eugenio Dragoni, Director of Dismi, Professor Mauro Dell’Amico, director of the School of Engineering and PhD in Industrial Innovation, Matteo Vignoli, coordinator of the project, and engineer Michela Audone, representing Reggio Emilia Innovazione. “We are particularly proud of our students – says Professor Dragoni – who participated in this important pilot project. They spent five months visiting the CERN and working with other international students, resulting in an overall nice way to work and learn in Europe. We hope that this represents the first step in a longer-term partnership that would represent a great opportunity, both for the university and for the territory’s entrepreneurial activities.”
