Mar. 28 – Cooperation, development, and growth: the relationship between Emilia -Romagna and Vietnam is increasingly solid. Vietnam is an emerging economy, an optimal hub for the ASEAN area – 10 countries in South East Asia that from 2015 will become one of the largest free trade areas in the world. With a growing purchasing power and a dynamic, qualified and flexible production, Vietnam is a key country for Italian SMEs that can provide technology, quality and expertise. On this basis, a year ago Emilia-Romagna set up a partnership project with Vietnam. Currently, eight Vietnamese buyers interested in purchasing technology “made in Italy” and evaluating productive collaborations are visiting the region. The Vietnamese delegation has met with 34 Emilia-Romagna companies active in mechanics in the Forlì and Modena headquarters of the Chambers of Commerce; it then visited the Mecspe, held at Fiere di Parma, in the company of: Vietnamese Ambassador to Italy Nguyen Hoang Long, Palma Costi, currently President of the Legislative Assembly of the Emilia- Romagna, Andrea Zanlari, President of the Chamber of Commerce of Parma, and Senaf vice president Gianfranco Ferilli. The economic partnership between Emilia -Romagna and Vietnam started in 2013 with a memorandum of understanding to launch the project “Destination Vietnam for Emilia-Romagna mechanical industry businesses,” carried out by Unioncamere with the Emilia -Romagna Region and sponsored by the Ministries of Economic Development and Foreign Affairs with the collaboration of Promec, the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam and ICE Agency.
