Mar. 28 – “La décentralisation et la participation en Tunisie” is a course tought in Tunisia and promoted by the University of Siena, in support of the democratic process currently underway in Tunisia, with specific regard to the issue of administrative decentralization. Participation, community, care of public interests, and the decentralization of government are the core themes that will be touched during the course. In particular, the University of Siena will coordinate two training courses in Tunis and Sousse on major issues affecting administrative decentralization. The courses are open to students, government officials, public administrators, and representatives of civil society. The Italian university is also hosting a series of seminars centered around “La décentralisation dans la nouvelle Constitution tunisienne,” which Professor Tania Groppi will hold in Kasserine – a city of west-central Tunisia – on April 1. Another full-day will take place on April 4, at the Dante Alighieri Society in Tunis, focusing on “La nouvelle constitution tunisienne: un point de vue comparé.”
