Mar. 31 – Davide Mattioli. 46, born in Fano (Marche) used to be a policeman, and later a pizza chef. Today, he is a star in the Czech Republic and Russia who has had six platinum album and who received the Russian musical Grammy. Mattioli partnered with Andrea Andrei and created the duo “Insieme,” quickly becoming two of the most beloved characters in the Eastern European musical scene. In a couple of days, the duo will release “Ci Penserò,” a track performed with Dodi Battaglia and Ilona Cskova (famous Czech singer), who discovered Davide back in 1998. Amedeo Minghi has recently decided to collaborate with the duo for a revival of one of his great success, “Emanuela ed io.” “Dodi is an extraordinary person – says Mattioli – always ready to experiment with new collaborations. And he was very open towards our reinterpretation of his music. And I owe Ilona everything, so I thought it would be nice to work with her again.” Mattioli is pleased with his success and can easily define his experience abroad as “15 exciting years.” “One of the greatest moment was when the Italian Embassy called me and said I would have an appointment at the EMI headquarters in Prague. The manager had gotten a hold of a demo tape I had made for my friends and family… Everything began in the Marche, where I had just been confirmed as a Carabiniere. In Liberec, not too far from Prague, I worked as a pizza chef. It wasn’t easy at first, but of course I’m glad of how things turned out. Andrea and I have been working together for 15 years, we love performing together in front of an audience, we love expressing our joy and light-heartedness, we love sharing a hug at the end of a great gig. And, incredibly, in all these years, we remained grounded. But of course, we miss Italy.”
