Apr. 1 – Enel Green Power has begun works on two innovative plants in Chile, in Ollague (not far from the border with Bolivia) and the United States, in Nevada. The Italian company thus continues its international projects entirely dedicated to the development and management of power generation from renewable sources. These two new projects bring EGP’s operating plants in Europe and the Americas to 750. In Chile, EGP will combine photovoltaic power, a mini-wind turbine generator and a co-generation system for the combined production of electricity and hot wate. The 232 kW of installed power, for a production capacity of 460 MWh/year, are equivalent to the consumption habits of 150 households. The plant will be a “stand alone,” it will not be connected to the national grid, and will include a 520 kWh electrochemical storage system able to handle all technical requirements of the network, providing residents with a constant supply of electricity. In Nevada, Enel Green Power North America has begun working on the construction of a solar thermodynamic plant, which will be integrated with an already operating geothermal power station in Stillwater, which is already paired with a 26 MW photovoltaic facility.
