Apr. 8 – The heart of London welcomes back one of the most prestigious international book fairs for the exchange of copyrights rights: the London Book Fair will take place from today until 10 April at Earls Court One. The event, now in its 43rd edition, will see the participation of fifty Italian publishers, of which 23 will exhibit in a joint 120 square meters stand set up by the Italian publishers association (AIE) and ICE – the Agency for the promotion abroad and internationalization of Italian firms. All day today, the European TISP network (Technology and innovation for smart publishing), coordinated by the AIE, has organized a meeting between publishers and ICT companies to confront each other on the results achieved in the development of new partnerships. The meeting was organized in partnership with eSkills for Jobs 2014, a European Commission communication campaign to raise awareness among Member States on digital skills, in favor of the quantitative and qualitative growth of employment). This year’s edition of the London Book Fair has registered about 1000 exhibitors from more than 60 countries divided in 25 international pavilions. The Italian Publishers Association, part of Confindustria, represents at the national and international level companies that produce editorial content regardless of its format (paper, digital). “Among its objectives, the Association aims to represent and protect publishers – says the AIE – to facilitate their professional growth, remove obstacles to the development of a modern publishing market, and combat lawlessness and lack of respect for copyrights. It also seeks to promote all initiatives that offer a real and tangible contribution to the spread of reading material, the enlargement of the domestic market, all the processes of internationalization, and Italian culture in the world.”
