Apr. 11 – Friuli Venezia Giulia (FVG) will have its name in the skies of Europe and North Africa for a year, thanks to an Alitalia aircraft that will bear the name of the region on all its Italian, European and North African routes. The deal is part of an agreement for the promotion of tourism between FVG Airport and the Italian airline. The President of the Region, Debora Serracchiani, joined the Vice-President and Councilor for Productive Activities, Sergio Bolzonello, in a meeting with Sergio Dressi, President of FVG Airport, and Alitalia directors. Together they presented the agreement at the Ronchi dei Legionari (Gorizia) airport while the selected aircraft was landing. The aircraft had drawn on its sides a flock of hummingbirds with the FVG tourism brand. The agreement represents a great step towards new formats of regional tourism promotion. “Particularly apt – reads a note from the region – is the choice of the hummingbird: a little, rare, and lively bird that is as special as Friuli Venezia Giulia.” Friuli is the first Italian region to have signed an agreement with Alitalia within the framework initiative “Alitalia per l’Italia,” designed to bring the Italy’s excellence around the world. It is estimated that in the year in which the aircraft will display the Friuli Venezia Giulia symbol it will reach up to 50 million people. The presentation was also the perfect moment to assess Alitalia’s presence in Ronchi dei Legionari airport, where it operates 46 weekly flights to four domestic destinations (Rome, Milan, Naples and Catania), and offers up to 40.000 seats on its flights per month. A recent meeting between the company’s CEO, Gabriele Del Torchio, and the President of the Region reviewed the flight departure times to Rome Fiumicino, making them coincide as much as possible with international and intercontinental flights. Alitalia’s directors confirmed today the interest and commitment of their company for FVG connections.
