Dakar – “Combating trafficking and the worst forms of child labor” is the focus of an Italian Cooperation project in Senegal aimed at active coordination of all actors involved at the national and local levels. The project led to the creation of the child protection departmental committees (EDK): representation places where young people can present their problems, desires and expectations, and also a starting point for promoting their rights through external communication campaigns. One of the first activities of the project involved theater as a communication medium: simple but at the same time capable of evoking great emotional power. The main topics are: child abuse and sexual exploitation; domestic work for young girls; and forced begging, which affects the talibes, young Koranic school students. (9Colonne)
