Apr. 24 – The Dean of the University of Macerata, Luigi Lacchè, and the Director of the Department of Political Science, International Relations and Communication, Francesco Adornato, are in Moscow to participate in the Global University Summit, scheduled for today and tomorrow. The Summit – held every year since 2008 – brings together the Universities of the G8 countries to develop strategies for common development. The Global University Summit 2014 is hosted by Moscow State University, the University “Peoples’ Friendship” and the National University of Science and Technology, in collaboration with one of the most prestigious Russian universities, the University MGIMO. “Our University – said Lacchè – is becoming a point of reference in Italy for Russia. A year ago, we set up the double Master’s degree in Political Science with MGIMO. Students from both institutions, by paying the fee of only one – say the single entry fee into Macerata – can attend MGIMO classes and receive that degree as well. The University of Macerata is also the main Italian reference point for the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kiev, the most prestigious in Ukraine, with which we have set up two international degrees. Our work has been so professional and rewarding that the Ukrainian Ambassador to Italy, Yevgen Perelygi, has asked us to become the contact reference for all social science academic relations between the two countries. These relationships were developed thanks to our research and teaching facilities in Russia and Slavic Studies. To celebrate this specialization, we organized an Italian-Russian week, which kicks off on May 5, that will be attended by representatives of major Russian and Italian institutions as well as leading national and international experts on Slavic Studies”.
