Lima – From May 1, a humanitarian expedition will leave the Bari port to deliver Italian food (pasta, rice, flour, sugar and olive oil ) to the most vulnerable groups of population in the district of Santa Rosa de Lima and the Ancash Region in Peru. The mission is worth approximately €395.000; and was organized by the Directorate General for Development Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the UN base in Brindisi (UNHRD), in response to the request put forth by “Operation Mato Grosso” and ” Casa de Convivencia Juan Pablo II,” two religious organizations that provide food, shelter and education to approximately 20.000 people in Peru. The expedition seeks to help those who are most vulnerable (young single mothers) or marginalized ( alcoholics and drug addicts), as well as those more vulnerable to hardship and emergency situations. The mission continues those operations, carried out by the Italian Cooperation Department, implemented in response to the cyclical food crises that affect the Andean region of the country. (9Colonne)
