May 15 – P.R.I.M.A. means Partnership in Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area. It’s a project aimed at promoting policy integration among European countries in the field of innovation and research, with the aim of contributing to a euro-Mediterranean society attentive to health and sustainability. Presented in Athens by Angelo Riccaboni, Dean of the University of Siena, the presentation was attended by European Research Ministers and the European Commission. The project focused on food systems and water resources issues; Riccaboni, coordinator of the international working group, was appointed by the Italian Minister of Education, Universities and Research. “The consensus during formal discussion among the ministers of the EU – said Riccaboni – was an indispensable condition to continue in the complex process of setting up a formal structure for joint programming, funded by the Commission and European countries.” The Education Minister, Stefania Giannini – after having expressed full support for the initiative – displayed satisfaction for the consensus. The event was organized in Athens as one of the events of the Greek Presidency.
