June 2 – Street Art is creativity, inventiveness, communication and irony. In recent years, the number of Italian artists who adopted this “philosophy” has increased, and today it is finally possible to offer a general analysis of the phenomenon in Italy. In fact, the Italian Cultural Institute in New York, from June 20 to August 20 will host the exhibition “From street to art.” The exhibition intends to celebrate those who, in the past two decades, have defined the movement in Italy. The exhibition, by Simone Pallotta, will show the development of a new generation of artists and their creative force. This is the first exhibition of Italian Street Art, and it comes as no surprise that it takes place in New York, where its 1970s urban culture reviewed and renewed the ways we think of art and public spaces. “From street to art” wants to investigate a generation of artists who represent the future of this movement in Italy: Agostino Iacurci, Aris, BR1, Cyop&Kaf, Dem, Eron, Hitnes, Sten&Lex, Ufo5, and 2501.
