June 10 – Lazio’s agribusinesses enter to the Canadian market with the project Deli 2, presented at the Commodity Exchange in Rome. The initiative is the second phase of Lazio Delicatessen, the regional project that promotes Lazio’s agricultural sector, which took place between March and July 2013. Phase one saw the participation of 42 companies and gave them the opportunity to experience an innovative methodology to select the food & beverages to promote on the Canadian market. The companies presented their products to tasting expert evaluators for North American consumers, in order to understand which products were compatible with the North American market in terms of tastes, buying habits, labeling and packaging. “Given how the success of the first edition proved that Lazio SMEs are able partake in internationalization projects and build networks that multiply business opportunities, and given the positive reception of the Canadian market… we decided to repeat the experience with Lazio Deli 2, open to about 30 Lazio companies, to further promote the regional products in the Canadian market, aim for their commercial distribution, and promote the economic potential and excellence of Lazio operators.” At the project presentation, the Councilor for Economic Development and Production Activities of the Lazio Region, Guido Fabiani, was present alongside Canada’s ambassador to Italy, Peter McGovern, the Special Commissioner of Arsial (the Regional Agency for Development and Innovation in Agriculture), the director of CNA Lazio Antonio Rosati, the Vice President of Chamber of Commerce of Rome, Lorenzo Tagliavanti, the Director General of the Azienda Romana Mercati, Carlo Hausmann, the director of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Ontario, Corrado Paina, and the International Relations Office of Sviluppo Lazio, Luigi Campitelli.
