June 18 – The exhibition “Piccole utopie. Architettura italiana del terzo millennio tra storia, ricerca e innovazione” opens tomorrow in San Francisco, at the headquarters of the Italian Institute of Culture (814 Montgomery Street). The exhibition is sponsored by Maxxi and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and will remain open until Friday, August 15. The display is a vital reconnaissance into the fabric of “new” Italian architecture, developed through a process that moves along three parallel directions: authors, projects, and themes. The overlap of these points, taken as selection criteria, allows to identify some of the most interesting subjects and give a glimpse of this changing discipline. The exhibition – which has already opened in Athens and Shanghai – is part of San Francisco Design Week 2014. During the inauguration, there will also be a panel discussion with architects Sarah Kuehl, Lorenzo Apicella and Pierluigi Serraino.
