(Aug 5) On August 30th, on the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the liquidation of the Lodz Ghetto, Ascanio Celestini and his “Saccarina, cinque al soldo” will be on stage in Warsaw. At the center of the drama, the terrible reality of the Holocaust. Children crying in the ghetto market of the Polish city, yelling “Saccarina, cinque al soldo!” is the starting point of a show that, through two actor-narrators, the same Ascanio Celestini and Olek Mincer, evokes the drama of people persecuted during the Second World War. The stories from the Lodz Ghetto are intertwined with those of Rome. All this wrapped with klezmer music, the music of Jewish communities across Eastern Europe, played by the Italian band Klezroym.
