(Aug. 13) From Emilia Romagna to Japan in the name of music, cooperation, and talent. August 15-17 the Piccolo Coro Athena from Bologna, directed by Marco Fanti, and Chiara Cattani, harpsichordist and fortepianist, will take part in the 2014 edition of the Hamamatsu World Youth Music Festival. In April, Bologna mayor Virginio Merola and the Hamamatsu mayor (a city in Japan located in the southern part of the island of Honshu, in the prefecture of Shizuoka), Yasutomo Suzuki, signed a cooperation agreement. Thanks to the new protocol, the two cities agreed to increase cultural exchanges, involving their own institutions, the industry, professional talents and creative businesses. The new agreement with the city of Hamamatsu, a candidate to become “City of Music,” represents for Bologna an important opportunity to enhance its musical heritage abroad.
