(Aug. 14) On August 14th, 1988, at the age of 90 years, Enzo Ferrari
died. The myth of Drake, however, is more alive than ever. 26 years
later, Maranello continues to hold up high the flag of made in Italy
around the world, so much so that it was defined by Brand Finance, as
the strongest brand in the world in the last two years. “I was at his
side for several years – writes on the Ferrari website president Luca
di Montezemolo – And when I returned at the helm of the company in
1991, I applied many of his principles for constant innovation and
quick decisions. I am sure that Enzo Ferrari would be happy to see how
far we have come, with the brand present in 62 countries, our large
investments in product and technological innovation, our desire to put
our customers above everything else… Behind our great products there
are exceptional men and women who bring extraordinary surprises to our
customers.” The brand recently decided to open a new course in the
Scuderia, and Montezemolo is sure Enzo Ferrari would approve. “We are
profoundly changing both our organizational structure and our culture.
We took important decisions and we made real progress, though for now
the results aren’t clearly visible. The goal is return competitive as
soon as possible and at the same time create the conditions to
maintain a new winning cycle. We were very happy to see that all the
main players in this sport agreed on the need to relaunch Formula 1.
We have specific proposals, starting from simple rules, placing the
audience at the center, also our youngest viewers.”
